Shabe Barat, also called the Evening of Forgiveness, is a big spiritual observance within the Islamic calendar. It’s celebrated on the fifteenth evening of the month of Shaban, which is the eighth month of the Islamic calendar. In 2025, Shabe Barat will fall on March seventh.
On this evening, Muslims consider that Allah (God) descends to the heavens and forgives the sins of those that search His forgiveness. It’s a time for reflection, repentance, and prayer. Muslims typically spend the evening in worship, reciting the Quran, and making dua (supplications) to Allah.
